East Village Arts District

Branding and Logo Design

Defining the Brand

The East Village Arts District, known for its Art Deco architecture in Downtown Long Beach is full of small, independently owned businesses that feature local artists, uniquely curated goods, coffee shops, and restaurants located inside restored historic buildings. It’s a dynamic place to live, work, eat, play, shop and appreciate art. When the East Village association came to me about redesigning their logo, they wanted the brand to feel classic, inspired, and approachable with a nod to the art deco era.

Design Strategy

Our visual inspiration was centered around the words inspiring, flourishing, vibrant, and diverse. We wanted to make sure the logo reflected the audience it was representing, while keeping its art deco influences ingrained into the design. We drew a lot of inspiration from the art deco building themselves with their geometric lines and airy dynamic shapes. The final logo is architectural and dynamic as it combines the elements that the neighborhood is known for.
